Page and edgeless modes

Draft a Project brief as a page, then flip the same body to edgeless mode to lay out its milestones on a canvas. Page and edgeless are two presentations of one body document, not two copies.

Switch modes

1. Open an Object whose Type has a body.
2. Open the Object’s ⋯ menu (tooltip More actions).
3. Choose Page mode or Edgeless mode.

Or press Ctrl+Shift+E (Toggle page / whiteboard). Lar stores the choice per body, so a whiteboard stays edgeless while your other notes remain pages.

When to use page mode

• Long-form writing with headings and nested lists.
• Documents that use the outline, find and replace, or presentation mode.
• Content whose reading and export order matters.

When to use edgeless mode

• Brainstorming where position carries meaning.
• Arranging text, frames, and other canvas elements.
• Grouping related visual material side by side.

Switching modes never creates a second Object or discards content. Undo history and collaborators’ presence carry across.

Some features only make sense in one mode: canvas elements live in edgeless mode, while outline and slide order follow the page. Switch back to page mode when you need a clear linear export or a deck.
