Page and edgeless modes
Page and edgeless are two presentations of the same body document.
Switch modes
Section titled “Switch modes”- Open an Object whose Type has a body.
- Open the Object’s More menu.
- Select Page or Edgeless.
You can also use the configured toggle shortcut. The choice is stored for that body, so a whiteboard can stay edgeless while ordinary notes remain pages.
Use page mode for
Section titled “Use page mode for”- long-form writing;
- nested lists and headings;
- documents that use outline, find, comments, or presentation mode; and
- predictable reading and export order.
Use edgeless mode for
Section titled “Use edgeless mode for”- spatial brainstorming;
- arranging text and frames on a canvas;
- grouping related visual material; and
- work where position communicates meaning.
Switching modes does not create a second Object or discard its content. Your undo history and collaborative presence stay available.
Some linear-document features make more sense in page mode, and some spatial blocks only make sense in edgeless mode. Return to page mode when you need a clear linear export or slide order.
